About Me... Dr. Kalyan Bose

I am a senior Consultant Gastroenterologist of Kolkata and am the Head of Gastroenterology at Woodlands Centre Ltd.

In addition I've my personal Gastro clinic where I can perform all complicated GI endoscopic / therapeutic procedures including ERCPs, stone removal, stent insertions etc.

I am the Vice President of the Liver foundation West Bengal which is an NGO that has the Nobel Laureate Prof. Amartya Sen as its chief patron. We work actively in rural areas promoting rural health and spreading awareness regarding liver dseases.

We also condust International meetings with world leaders in hepatology and the most recent one was held on 6th of Dec 2008.

I find time to regularly work with the spastic society of India where I look after the medical needs of the people there.

During my eight year tenure in England I was actively involved in research work and my attachments at the West Middlesex University Hospital in London and the DGH in Rotherham, Sheffield were places where I gained my expertise in gastroenterology in the 1980s.

Here in India I have been involved with evolving consensus data on the IBS screen under the India Society of Gastroeneterology. In addition I have been involved with various drug trials on ulcer disease, IBS, Probiotics etc.

My extra curricular activities include playing golf, painting in oils, music, english literature and travel.
